Officially registered in 1986, Caritas Cyprus has been responding to the needs of vulnerable people on the divided island since 1974. It shares the mission of serving the poor, dispossessed and marginalized with the over 160 other relief and development organizations in the Caritas confederation across the globe. Where there is a need, there is a Caritas!
Caritas Cyprus contributes to the work of the Caritas Internationalis confederation by participating in its strategic orientation committees and special commissions. These set priorities and confront challenges in Caritas’ work to build global solidarity, save lives and livelihoods, rebuild communities and promote sustainable integral human development. Two members of the Caritas Cyprus community took part in the recent Strategic Orientation Committees Forum at Fraterna Domus in Sacrofano, Italy.
