Caritas Cyprus Participates in Brussels Event for EU Anti-Trafficking Day

On October 18 each year, the European Union marks EU Anti-Trafficking Day. Its purpose is to raise awareness on trafficking in human beings and to increase the exchange of information, knowledge and best practices among the different actors working in this field. Contributing to the dialogue this year, the partners implementing the COALESCE project organized an event at the Press Club in Brussels to discuss the project’s findings, engage policy makers and provide survivors with the opportunity to share their insights. At the event, on the day—October 18, 2022—Chiara Parolin, Co-President of the European Network of Migrant Women, and Susan Pavlou, Director of the Mediterranean Institute for Gender Studies who coordinated the project, offered opening remarks. Presentations elaborated on how Europe might better support migrant women victims of trafficking for sexual exploitation. The session culminated in an interactive roundtable discussion that included Gosia Chrysanthou, Board Member of Caritas Cyprus.
