Every 25 years, the Jubilee tradition reminds us all to serve those in need and to build bridges of hope in our communities and across the world. In the spirit of the 2025 Jubilee—declared the Year of Hope by Pope Francis—the Caritas Internationalis confederation has launched a campaign to champion debt justice, fairness and solidarity. Currently, a staggering 48 developing countries spend more on debt interest payments than on health or education, further entrenching inequality and poverty.
Caritas Cyprus invites everyone to sign a global petition aimed at raising awareness about the systemic change needed and urging governments and decision-makers to enact debt relief that aligns with the values of equity and compassion central to Catholic Social Teaching and fundamental to sustainable development.
