On the occasion of International Women’s Day 2026, under the global theme “Rights. Justice. Action. For ALL Women and Girls,” Caritas Cyprus joined the other members of the Platform on Protecting Refugee and Asylum-Seeking Women from Violence in reaffirming its commitment to safeguarding the rights and safety of all women and girls. The statement highlights that women and girls who have been forced to flee persecution, conflict and human rights violations often face heightened risks of gender-based violence and discrimination and do so after being displaced and robbed of supportive networks. More coordination that includes civil society actors is essential to building effective identification, referral and support mechanisms.
