Declaration of Hope on International Youth Day, August 12

Half the people on our planet are under the age of 30. As a positive force for development, youth must be given the knowledge to thrive and the opportunity to serve. August 12 is International Youth Day—the United Nation’s awareness day to draw attention to youth issues. It is a day to highlight the unique role of young people in translating global ambitions into community-driven realities. Everyday, Caritas Cyprus is thankful for the on-the-ground contributions of the young members of its team including its interns, volunteers and apprentices. Likewise, in its work in support of vulnerable groups, Caritas Cyprus prioritizes ensuring that all young people—from elementary school children to aspiring young professionals—have access to formal education and informal learning.

Proudly, a delegation of young people from Cyprus participated in the Youth Jubilee in Rome recently, adding their voices to those of their Caritas Youth peers from across Europe and the world in articulating a Declaration of Hope.
