On October 17, Caritas Cyprus was enthusiastic to host a Community Conversation as part of the Cyprus Singing Tree Mural project. This creative endeavor has brought together U.S.-based Unity through Creativity and Cyprus-focused Visual Voices in a two-year collaboration that uses art to build peace and enrich communities. Like Unity through Creativity’s work in other parts of the world, the “Olive Singing Tree Mural of Becoming” in Cyprus uses community artwork and collective storytelling to facilitate a shared creative experience fostering dialogue and spurring innovation. Inclusive initiatives like these are particularly relevant to Cyprus which remains divided by an unresolved conflict and challenged by integrating an increasingly diverse population. The final mural will be revealed at an event in the United Nations Buffer Zone near the Home for Cooperation on Saturday, October 26.
