Caritas Welcomes University of Notre Dame Scholars

In Cyprus as part of an immersive learning experience, the University of Notre Dame’s McNeill Common Good Fellows visited Caritas Cyprus on January 8 to find out more about its work with vulnerable groups at the grassroots on a divided island. The topics of an interactive discussion with staff and volunteers at the Caritas Center included trends in migration, regional developments and faith-based aspects of Caritas’ mission. Afterwards, the Notre Dame students played board and other games with those participating in the Center’s weekly social activity. While pursuing majors as different as political science and medicine, the Notre Dame scholars are united in their desire to live an ethical life of meaning, purpose and impact. This purpose resonates with Caritas Cyprus’ commitment to engage and inspire young people through meaningful encounters with those who have vastly different lived experiences.
