As part of its policy advocacy efforts, Caritas Cyprus looks for opportunities to bring the insights it gleans from working at the grassroots level in the southeastern Mediterranean to broader European discussions. This includes participating in dialogues organized by EPIM—the pathbreaking European Philanthropic Initiative on Migration. As part of EPIM’s inaugural Forum meeting in Brussels in November, Executive Manager Elizabeth Kassinis shared experiences from Cyprus and perspectives from Europe’s frontline of migrant reception. The Forum discussed various aspects of migration governance, emphasizing the importance of nurturing partnerships within the ecosystem and of cultivating a shared narrative for belonging which will strengthen democratic resilience.
