It was a pleasure to be invited to celebrate the national day of the Sovereign Military Order of the Knights of Malta in Nicosia on June 23, 2023. Across the world, and like Caritas, the Order of Malta is dedicated to the preservation of human dignity and the care of those in need, regardless of their origin or religion. In Cyprus, with the Order’s support, Caritas Cyprus has been able to provide vulnerable individuals and families with essential medicines, equipment and supplies that are unavailable or unaffordable through the public health system as well as with cultural mediation and translation in hospitals. Together, the Order of Malta and Caritas Cyprus have promoted better health outcomes for some the most at-risk in our society, migrants and refugees.
