For some, bicycles are a liberating mode of transport to school, work and other activities. For others, bicycles are a source of exercise and fun. For society generally, bicycles reduce the need for cars and can improve quality of life. Thanks to a donation from Caravan of Humanity (Austria), Caritas Cyprus was able to distribute dozens of bicycles and safety helmets as well as other bicycling supplies to individuals and families in Nicosia. By matching gear with experienced bicyclists and learners alike, Caritas Cyprus improved the mobility of many who cannot afford personal vehicles or public transportation. Additionally, the colorful bicycles provided a source of relaxation, exercise and empowerment to children learning to find their way around Nicosia.
