UNHCR and several local organizations—including Caritas Cyprus—used the occasion of this year’s International Day for the Eradication of Poverty to highlight the structural and social inequalities faced by millions of people worldwide noting that exclusion, discrimination and insecurity disproportionately affect women, especially forcibly displaced women who, having lost their social support networks, are at risk of destitution, exploitation and abuse.
